New design to enhance a tradition
MIDeC – Museo Internazionale Design Ceramico presents the works selected and awarded following the announcement of the first edition of the MIDeC Award for Ceramic Design, under the management of Lorenza Boisi and curated by Fabio Carnaghi, in continuity with the Laveno’s historical tradition that the Museum promotes and preserves.
On this occasion the works selected by the Jury of experts composed of the curator of the Alessi Museum, Francesca Appiani, the curator of the Piero Portaluppi Foundation Ferruccio Luppi, the art historian and designer Alberto Mugnaini, the architect, artist and designer Marcello Morandini, the design and art historian Anty Pansera, the curator of the Castello Sforzesco Francesca Tasso and the president of the Associazione Amici del MIDeC Vittorio Veneziani will be exhibited in the rooms for the temporary exhibitions of the Museum.
The presentation of the works of ceramic design awarded for their technological innovation and reinterpretation of an all-Italian tradition includes the works of the PRO section, i.e. professionals working in the design and planning sector, which awarded the MIDeC Prize to Le Cichere – Giancarla Eleuterio and Antonio Antinucci – with the “Faustina” project, followed in second place by Sandra Baruzzi with the “Le Ondine” project and in third place by Paolo Demo and Angelo Zilio with the “Sbuff” project. The winner will win a monographic exhibition at MIDeC, while the two mentioned will be able to present a bipersonal project at the Museum.
Finally, the YOUNG section, for students enrolled in Design courses at Universities, Academies of Fine Arts and Higher Education Schools, awarded a prize to Valentina Fussi with the project “Sgugiotto“.
The works of the award-winning authors will be on display at MIDeC until October 27, 2019 during the Museum’s opening hours.
Premio MIDeC, promoted by MIDeC and Associazione Amici del MIDeC, is realized with the contribution of the Fondazione Comunitaria del Varesotto Onlus, the patronage of ADI – Associazione per Il Disegno Industriale, the Municipality of Laveno Mombello and with the support of Hotel de Charme, Laveno.
